Air India Appoints Vikram Dayal as New Head of IOCC

Vikram Dayal has been named as Air India's new leader of the Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) after Choorah Singh stepped down from his position as Senior Vice President and IOCC Head.

At the same time, Air India Express plans to begin direct flights connecting Agartala and Bagdogra starting October 26, linking Tripura's capital with North Bengal and offering convenient travel to sought-after locations like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik, and Sikkim.

This new service will launch alongside the winter flight schedule, representing a significant milestone for aviation connections in Tripura.

A Boeing aircraft with 180 seats will fly this route every day. Departures from Bagdogra are scheduled for 4:30 PM with arrival in Agartala at 5:40 PM, and the return journey leaves Agartala at 6:10 PM, reaching Bagdogra at 7:20 PM.

Passengers can now book tickets, with pricing designed to be budget-friendly for regular travelers, enhancing the affordability of family trips to North Bengal.

 

Additionally, Air India has revealed plans to broaden its UK operations through its Northern Winter 2025 timetable by introducing a fourth daily service linking Delhi with London Heathrow, beginning October 26.

The extra flight boosts Air India's operations from 24 times weekly to 28 times weekly during the winter season, providing an additional 1,196 seats in each direction per week on the Delhi-London Heathrow route.

According to the announcement, all Air India services on this popular route utilize the carrier's latest Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 fleet. Air India holds the position as the leading airline between India and the UK, with 61 weekly flights and offering 18,066 seats per week in a single direction, equivalent to approximately 1.7 million seats per year across routes linking both nations.

The airline provides connectivity between five Indian destinations - Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Amritsar - and three UK locations: London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and Birmingham.
