FM Hails Farmers' Training, Agro-Processing Centres in Karnataka

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that numerous training facilities for farmers and shared centers for agricultural processing have been established throughout the Kalyana Karnataka area, spanning seven districts, through funding from the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

The Finance Minister is scheduled to visit and formally open these farmer training facilities and shared agricultural processing centers in four districts: Vijayanagara, Bellary, Koppal, and Raichur.

She expressed her anticipation of meeting with farmers, producer groups, and their family members who will gain advantages from these agricultural processing facilities.

Previously, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha had a meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi.

The Union Finance Minister further highlighted the production in these training and common facility centres, stating, "Vijayanagara: Peanut Butter, Roasted Peanut, Peanut Chikki, De-seeded Tamarind blocks and Tamarind Pulp (Peanut- 200kgph; Tamarind- 100 kgph). Ballari: Chilli Flakes and Chilli Powder (Chilli - 250 kgph). Koppal: Fruit Pulp, Fruit Juices and Amchur Powder (Fruit - 500 kgph). Raichur: Chila Premix, Channa and Tuar Dal Mill (Dal- 350 kgph). Yadgir: Peanut Butter, Roasted Peanut and Groundnut Oil (300 kgph). Kalaburagi: Millet Flakes, Millet Pops, Millet Flour and Whole Millets (Millet- 500 kgph). Bidar: Soybean tofu and flavoured soy milk (Soyabean- 300 kgph)."

Throughout their discussion, the Chief Minister brought up the necessity of raising the ceiling limits for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs).

 

The Chief Minister also emphasized during their conversation that multiple important projects within the Urban Development Department, Tourism Department, and Agartala Municipal Corporation remain stalled due to current ceiling limitations.

Earlier, the Karnataka state government unveiled a Rs.1,000-crore initiative to establish innovation hubs in Mangaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi, aiming to extend the state's technology-driven development beyond Bengaluru. This declaration was made during the inauguration of CII Innoverge 2025 at The Taj West End, organized around the concept of "Make in India, Developed India & Digital India."

Kharge announced that the state would introduce a Rs.100-crore fund during the forthcoming Bengaluru Tech Summit to recognize India's leading 50 artificial intelligence firms and present 20,000 startups through the Future Makers initiative. Business executives, such as Kamal Bali, President & MD of Volvo Group India, and Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-founder of Infosys, emphasized that India's progress relies on enhancing research and development activities and fostering partnerships between educational institutions and the corporate sector.
