Airbus has named Matthieu Louvot as CEO of Airbus Helicopters, signaling a shift in leadership at the globe’s leading helicopter maker as it embarks on its next growth stage.

The company announced on Tuesday that the appointment will take effect on April 1, 2026. Louvot, currently the executive vice-president for strategy at Airbus, will report to group CEO Guillaume Faury and will become part of the executive committee.

Louvot will take over from Bruno Even, who has chosen to depart Airbus after eight years leading the helicopters division to explore new career and personal opportunities, the company announced.

According to the company statement, Guillaume Faury praised Even for broadening the division’s product range, overhauling its industrial structure, and positioning the business for greater sustainability and profitability during a difficult time for the aerospace industry.

Faury stated that Louvot's extensive experience in the helicopter industry and understanding of the division's operational and strategic goals would guarantee continuity. He mentioned that the change occurs when Airbus Helicopters is concentrating on sustaining profitability while also investing in next-generation platforms and services.

Louvot began his tenure at Airbus Helicopters in 2010 following a career in the French civil service, which included a period as an industry consultant at the French presidency. At Airbus, he has occupied high-level positions across customer support and services along with programs, prior to transitioning to a group-level strategy role.

A graduate of École Polytechnique and École Nationale d’Administration, Louvot is viewed internally as a key deputy of Faury, possessing extensive knowledge of Airbus’s offerings and strategic planning, according to sources familiar with the organization.

Airbus announced that a replacement for Louvot in the role of executive vice-president for strategy will be revealed at a future time.

The shift in leadership occurs as Airbus Helicopters aims to reconcile robust demand in defense and public services with weaker conditions in segments of the civil market, while progressing efforts on decarbonization and digitalization. Investors and clients will be paying close attention to how Louvot navigates the division amidst changing geopolitical and industrial focuses.
