Aon Announces CEO Appointments in Malaysia and the Philippines

Aon has revealed two senior leadership appointments in Southeast Asia, appointing Neelay Patel as Chief Executive Officer for Malaysia and Karl Hamann as Chief Executive Officer for the Philippines, emphasizing the company's commitment to enhancing leadership and driving growth in crucial markets within the region.

Patel will assume the role of CEO in Malaysia starting March 2026, pending regulatory approval. Located in Kuala Lumpur, he will oversee Aon’s operations in Malaysia across Commercial Risk Solutions, Health Solutions, Talent Solutions, and Wealth Solutions, reporting to Andrew Minnitt, Head of Southeast Asia.

Patel has over 20 years of expertise in risk management and insurance, including more than ten years at Aon, where he led commercial strategy and expansion throughout Asia. Most recently, he held the position of Head of Growth, Asia, contributing significantly to the advancement of sales transformation and delivering Aon’s comprehensive range of services to clients throughout the region.

“Neelay’s strategic thinking, client-centric approach, and value-driven leadership uniquely equip him to guide our Malaysia team,” stated Minnitt. "His profound insight into client requirements and capacity to rally teams around cohesive solutions will be essential as organizations maneuver through a more intricate risk landscape."

Before starting at Aon in 2014, Patel was employed at Lockton in both Australia and London, providing counsel to major multinational clients. His professional journey includes high-level positions in Singapore, Australia, London, and Malaysia.

Aon has announced the appointment of Hamann as CEO of the Philippines, starting 1 April 2026, pending regulatory approvals. Hamann is set to move to Manila in the next few months and will additionally report to Minnitt.

In the Philippines, Hamann will prioritize enhancing Aon’s integrated solutions strategy, collaborating closely with regional solution line leaders to strengthen client relationships and facilitate ongoing growth as clients navigate more interconnected risks.

Hamann possesses over thirty years of leadership expertise throughout Asia-Pacific and international markets. Prior to becoming Aon's CEO for Indonesia in 2022, he served as CEO in the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Asia. In Indonesia, he spearheaded modernization efforts, improved business execution, and boosted market connectivity.

“Karl possesses a unique blend of practical experience, business acumen, and the capability to guide others during times of transition,” stated Minnitt. “His deep understanding of the Philippine market and his solid regional performance position him uniquely to enhance the business's momentum.”

Hamann takes over from Darren Oliver, who will move into a newly established regional position as Head of Market Development for APAC Health Solutions, located in Singapore.

Minnitt stated that the appointments demonstrate Aon's ongoing commitment to leadership throughout Southeast Asia, positioning the company effectively to address clients' changing requirements in a swiftly evolving landscape.
