Apple Opens Houston Center Ahead of Mac Mini Production
Apple launched its new Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston and announced that production of the Mac mini will commence at the location later this year.
Apple reports that the facility, spanning 20,000 square feet, serves as the company's second manufacturing learning location in the United States. It is located within the current Houston facility that manufactures and distributes Apple's cutting-edge artificial intelligence servers. The center offers complimentary educational programs and training workshops to small and medium enterprises, giving them access to production.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, stated on X, "Our Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston is officially open and we will start producing Mac mini this year!" Wonderful to connect with a few of the initial participants alongside Secretary of Commerce @howardlutnick. They will acquire the same advanced production methods that we apply to create Apple products.
United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick was present at the inauguration with state and local officials.

"President Trump stated that we would return high-tech manufacturing to America." The Mac mini will now be produced right here in Houston, Texas. "Thank you, Tim and Apple, for your $600 billion pledge to America," Lutnick stated on X.
The program at the center includes classroom teaching on assembly concepts, design factors for printed circuit board assembly, and hands-on workshops in a simulated factory environment. The first group was taught by Apple engineers on quality control driven by machine learning, advanced automation, laser etching, and holographic technologies. The training will then broaden to include local college students.

Cook noted, "In under nine months, we have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into this Houston facility. We established a factory, initiated production, and dispatched the initial advanced AI servers from the assembly line."

"Today, we are excited to unveil our new Advanced Manufacturing Center, where companies, employees, and students can explore the innovative techniques that we employ to create Apple's most cutting-edge products. And we’re excited to start Mac mini manufacturing later this year,” Cook stated.
