Athena Infonomics has named Nakul Jain as the Chief Executive Officer of APLYD, its specialized platform aimed at assisting governments in developing systems, capabilities, and governance for implementing artificial intelligence in public services. Jain, a co-founder of APLYD, will also become a Partner at Athena Infonomics.

The appointment signifies the next step in Athena Infonomics' sixteen-year endeavor to collaborate with governments in enhancing public institutions via data, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

APLYD unites the company’s AI efforts under a specific brand, leveraging its implementation expertise in government while broadening its emphasis on institutional intelligence and the ethical use of AI.

“For fifteen years I’ve worked with ministries and public institutions, and I’ve watched technology change people’s lives when it’s built to be accessible and to serve the public,” Nakul says.

“At APLYD, I want AI to reach beyond early adopters to every ministry, every district, and every citizen who stands to benefit".

"The team has the expertise and the ambition to do it, backed by Athena Infonomics’ long record with governments. I’m looking forward to the work ahead”.

Jain's appointment occurs as governments transition from examining the possibilities of AI to integrating it into public institutions. The change is focusing more on the policies, capabilities, and delivery mechanisms needed for the responsible and large-scale deployment of AI.

Vijay Bhalaki, Co-Founder, Athena Infonomics and APLYD says, “Nakul has spent his career doing the hard part of AI, making it work inside government institutions, under real constraints and at a meaningful scale. That experience is rare, and it’s exactly what APLYD was built for. As we bring together Athena Infonomics’ AI work under APLYD, there is no one better placed to lead its next chapter”.

Jain has 15 years of expertise in developing digital systems and AI solutions for governmental organizations. He formerly held the positions of CEO and Managing Director at Wadhwani AI Global, where he directed the organization’s growth in Latin America and Africa. Previously, in his role as Vice President of Products & Solutions at Wadhwani AI India, he managed over 25 AI implementations throughout India.
