Canada University Delegation to Visit India

Canadian universities are poised to enhance academic and research connections with India, as Universities Canada heads a nationwide delegation to the nation from February 2 to 6, following a surge in Canada-India relations and the initiation of talks for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
A delegation of 21 Canadian university presidents will spend five days visiting Goa, New Delhi, and Gujarat International Finance Tech-City to engage with leaders from India's higher education sector, government, and industry.
The objective seeks to enhance research cooperation, establish industry alliances, and investigate sustainable frameworks for transnational education.
The delegation is rooted in Canada’s recently revealed $1.7-billion strategy for research and talent in the federal budget, and it corresponds with the New Roadmap for Canada-India relations introduced in October 2025. Universities Canada stated that the visit indicates increasing momentum for a refreshed collaboration between the two nations.
