Delhi Summit Key to Unlocking AI’s Full Potential: UK Deputy PM

The UK’s emphasis at the AI Impact Summit commencing in New Delhi on Monday will be on advocating how artificial intelligence can accelerate growth, create new employment opportunities, enhance public services, and provide advantages for individuals worldwide, according to the British government.
Under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and AI Minister Kanishka Narayan, the UK team aims to showcase how AI can enhance daily life globally and advocate for AI as a catalyst for revitalization that assists doctors in rapid diagnoses, enables teachers to tailor learning, allows councils to provide services swiftly, and empowers businesses to develop the next wave of quality jobs.
"This summit represents a crucial opportunity to collaborate with our global partners in harnessing the complete advantages and possibilities of AI, while also integrating strong and equitable safety measures that safeguard everyone," Lammy stated in a pre-summit remark.
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) noted that India and Britain are "natural tech partners," as software giants such as Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Wipro increase their presence throughout the UK.
"AI represents the defining technology of our time, and we're committed to ensuring it benefits all," stated Narayan, the first MP of Indian descent from Wales.

“It has the potential to reduce waiting times, enhance public services, generate new employment opportunities, and provide diligent communities with a renewed beginning – and that’s precisely the message we’re bringing to the summit. It is crucial to our strategies for achieving national revitalization, but its advantages cannot and should not be limited to just a few," he stated.
The AI minister stated that the UK is “at the forefront, advocating for a global perspective on AI that enables individuals worldwide to enhance their knowledge, increase their earnings, and influence the future according to their preferences.”
"We are completely in agreement on ensuring that the citizens of Britain and India not only observe AI developed by others but also create AI and directly reap its benefits," he stated.
In addition to Delhi, Narayan will visit Bengaluru to investigate how India and the UK are collaborating to capitalize on advancements in technology. The two nations are pouring tens of millions into advanced research – ranging from improved batteries and next-generation telecommunications for rural areas to genomic medicine that may address rare diseases, according to DSIT.
