DPIIT Inks MoU with Roche Products

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Roche Products (India) Pvt. Ltd. to support DPIIT-recognized startups engaged in vital therapeutic fields like oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, haematology, and rare diseases.

As part of the MoU, Roche India will offer guidance from global specialists, assist with pilot and validation research, and provide access to advanced technologies, infrastructure, and global platforms to promote the scaling of promising innovations.

The MoU was officially signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director of DPIIT, and Smt., Managing Director of Roche Products (India) Pvt. Ltd. Rajwinder Mehdwan, alongside high-ranking officials from each organization. Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Shri Sanjiv emphasized the significance of collaboration between industry and startups in incorporating groundbreaking health innovations into the marketplace.

He mentioned that the collaboration would provide advice on regulatory routes, intellectual property, and international health criteria, as well as chances for practical validation.

 Enhancing capabilities in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and patient involvement will remain a primary area of emphasis. Managing Director, Roche Products (India) Private Limited, Smt. Rajwinder Mehdwan characterized the MoU as the commencement of a partnership aimed at assisting Indian healthtech startups in creating patient-centered solutions designed to meet India's healthcare requirements.

This MoU highlights DPIIT’s dedication to cultivating meaningful public-private collaborations that encourage inclusive development and establish India as an international center for health innovation.

 

DPIIT is the central Department of the Government of India responsible for coordinating and executing programs with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in India.

The department collaborates with major Industry Associations like the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Indian Industry, ASSOCHAM, and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on initiatives aimed at enhancing industrial collaboration and encouraging FDI into India.
