EAM Jaishankar Meets FMs of South Africa, Mexico, Others

During the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Niagara, India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar engaged in bilateral discussions with the Justice and Correctional Services Minister of South Africa, Ronald Lamola, the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Juan Ramon de la Fuente, and the Premier of Saskatchewan, Canada, Scott Moe.

Throughout the discussion, the External Affairs Minister explored strategies to enhance collaborative efforts and strengthen relations between the two countries across multiple domains.

"Nice to catch up with South Africa FM Ronald Lamola in Niagara today," Jaishankar said in a post on X.

In a subsequent social media post, Jaishankar reported engaging in talks with Mexico's Foreign Minister, with the primary aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors including commerce, trade, healthcare, pharmaceutical industries, and scientific and technological domains.

"A pleasure to meet FM Dr Juan Ramon de la Fuente of Mexico. Discussed further advancing our cooperation across business, trade, health & pharmaceuticals, and science & technology," Jaishankar posted.

Furthermore, during their meeting, Jaishankar engaged in discussions with Scott Moe, the leader of Saskatchewan Province, focusing on examining collaborative opportunities across energy, agricultural, and fertilizer sectors.

 

Highlighting the discussion, he posted, "Good to meet again with the Premier of Saskatchewan Province Scott Moe. Discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in energy, food and fertiliser. Value his warm sentiments towards our relationship."

Prior to this, Foreign Minister Jaishankar engaged in one-on-one talks with diplomatic representatives from France, Germany, and Brazil, with the aim of enhancing mutual strategic cooperation and collaboratively addressing international issues during the diplomatic gathering.

During his meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, he engaged in substantive conversations focused on strengthening the strategic collaboration between India and Germany, exploring the dynamics of India-European Union relations, and sharing perspectives on geopolitical developments in West Asia, Afghanistan, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Furthermore, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot reviewed the current state of their strategic relationship and explored opportunities to enhance collaboration through various international and multilateral platforms.

While speaking with Brazil's Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, they engaged in comprehensive talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations across key sectors including trade, investment, healthcare, and technological collaboration.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to travel to Canada between November 11 and 13, where he will attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting along with Outreach Partners, following a formal invitation extended by Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs.

India's involvement highlights its dedication to collaborating with global allies to tackle worldwide issues and strengthen the representation of developing nations in international discussions.

This conference assembles government leaders from the Group of Seven industrialized nations, which include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the US, and representatives of the European Union, as well as additional invited countries such as India, Australia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, South Korea, South Africa, and Ukraine.
