HCL Technologies’ software division, HCLSoftware, has reached an agreement to purchase Jaspersoft from Cloud Software Group for $240 million in an all-cash transaction, as the firm intensifies its emphasis on data, analytics, and AI-driven enterprise software.

The deal, anticipated to finalize within six months of the agreement, will integrate Jaspersoft — a supplier of embedded analytics and precise reporting solutions — into HCLSoftware’s Data & AI sector, Actian. Approximately 115 employees across different locations will join HCLSoftware as a result of the transaction.

The agreement enhances HCLSoftware’s position in embedded analytics and business intelligence, especially in heavily regulated industries like government, banking, and financial services, where Jaspersoft has established a solid customer foundation.

HCLSoftware reported that the need for its Data & AI offerings, such as metadata management, data cataloguing, and data governance, has increased consistently over the last five years as companies update data platforms and ready them for AI applications. Incorporating Jaspersoft will enable Actian to provide a comprehensive data management and analytics solution, covering ingestion, governance, and reporting.

“With the rapid adoption of GenAI, our clients seek business intelligence tools that provide uniform analytics and reports, while allowing them complete oversight of the analytics experience,” stated Marc Potter, CEO of Actian and portfolio general manager of HCLSoftware’s Data & AI division. “Using Jaspersoft, we can provide AI-driven embedded analytics with significant architectural adaptability, facilitating high-volume, precise reporting and interactive dashboards within customer-facing applications.

Jaspersoft is commonly utilized by software companies and organizations to integrate reporting and analytics directly within applications, instead of depending on separate BI tools. Its emphasis on exact reporting has established it as a favored option in compliance-intensive settings where precision and traceability are essential.

Steven Schneider, general manager of the analytics division at Cloud Software Group, stated that Jaspersoft had gained the confidence of clients worldwide due to its embedded analytics features and that HCLSoftware was a "strong strategic owner" for the company.

The acquisition of Jaspersoft follows shortly after another data-and-AI-oriented purchase revealed by HCLSoftware earlier this week. In a different announcement to the stock exchanges, the company stated it plans to purchase Belgium-based early-stage startup Wobby for approximately Rs.47 crore (€4.5 million).

Wobby creates AI data analyst “agents” for data warehouses, aimed at assisting businesses in obtaining insights more swiftly with GenAI. The agreement, arranged as an entirely cash transaction, comprises €3 million due at the closing and postponed payments of €0.75 million on both the first and second anniversaries of the closing. The deal is anticipated to be finalized by February 2026.
