Hero MotoCorp, the globe's biggest manufacturer of two-wheeled vehicles, revealed that it has selected Harshavardhan Chitale to serve as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the position taking effect on January 5, 2026.

The appointment received approval during the Board of Directors meeting conducted on September 8, according to Hero MotoCorp's regulatory filing with the stock exchange.

Following Harshavardhan's appointment, Vikram Kasbekar, who has been functioning as the Acting CEO, will relinquish this position while remaining with the organization as Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Chitale, a graduate of IIT Delhi who earned the distinguished Director's Gold Medal, possesses more than 30 years of international leadership expertise across both business-to-business and business-to-consumer sectors. His background demonstrates exceptional performance in industrial automation, lighting solutions, information technology services, and digital transformation initiatives.

In his most recent position, Harshavardhan held the role of Global CEO for Signify's €4 billion Professional Business division, managing a team of 12,000 staff members spanning 70 nations and supervising manufacturing operations, supply chain management, product development, and digital programs.

Before this role, he served as Vice Chairman and Managing Director at Philips Lighting India, where he effectively managed the separation of the business into an independent publicly traded entity while maintaining its dominant market position.

His previous executive positions encompass senior roles at HCL Infosystems and Honeywell Automation India, where he achieved substantial growth and enhanced value for shareholders. In addition to his corporate achievements, Chitale actively invests as an angel investor in electric vehicle companies, renewable energy projects, healthcare technology, and agricultural technology startups.

Harshavardhan's selection occurs as the organization concentrates on enhancing expansion in high-end motorcycles, electric vehicles, and international markets, while simultaneously advancing digital and technological innovation, Hero MotoCorp reported to the exchanges.

This marks a return to Hero MotoCorp for Anuj Dua, as he previously held positions within the company focusing on product strategy, which provided him with valuable knowledge of the organization's framework and operations. During his time with Royal Enfield, he developed expertise in the premium motorcycle industry and global markets, experience that should prove valuable as Hero strengthens its product focus.
