India and Nordic Nations Elevate Ties to Green Technology

India and the Nordic nations agreed to enhance their relationship to a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed matters with his Nordic counterparts, emphasizing clean energy, sustainability, innovation, emerging technologies, and other important sectors.
After the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, Prime Minister Modi stated that in this time of global unrest and conflict, India and the Nordic countries will persist in collaborating to reinforce the rules-based international order.

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated that the Nordic countries have numerous goals in common with India, such as enhancing the rules-based international system.
The Summit indicated that the leaders “reaffirmed their commitment to adhering to international law, mutual values and obligations, such as democracy, freedom, human rights, gender equality, rule of law, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as international peace and security pursuant to international law, including the United Nations Charter.

The summit showcased the broadening scope and increasing strength of India's partnership with the Nordic region. The prime minister’s office stated that the leaders talked about collaboration in sustainability, innovation, clean energy, emerging technologies, and other areas.
The leaders reiterated their firm commitment to persist in taking proactive steps to disrupt the financing channels for terrorism, including through the UN and FATF, it stated.
They also addressed global peace and security, focusing on conflicts in Europe and West Asia, and highlighted the necessity of multilateral collaboration and reforming global governance bodies.
Regarding Ukraine, the leaders will persist in backing initiatives aimed at realizing a comprehensive, just, and enduring peace through dialogue and diplomacy, grounded in the principles of the UN charter and international law.
Expressing significant worries regarding the situation in West Asia, the leaders emphasized the necessity of de-escalation and reaffirmed that all matters need to be settled through dialogue and diplomacy. They also urged for free navigation and international trade movement via the Strait of Hormuz. The leaders emphasized the significance of accessible climate finance, technology transfer, and capacity development, especially for developing nations, to facilitate equitable and inclusive energy transitions.

Modi stated that India and the Nordic countries have achieved remarkable advancements in recent years Both parties also concurred on boosting collaboration in multilateral forums, while Nordic leaders reaffirmed their backing for India’s permanent seat in a reformed and enlarged UN Security Council. The officials agreed to conduct the upcoming India-Nordic Summit in Helsinki.
