India and the US Commit to Enhancing Energy Relations

In light of the current tariffs, Xiaobing Feng, Principal Commercial Officer at the US Embassy in India, reiterated the United States' dedication to collaborating with India across various sectors, particularly in the energy security partnership. Speaking at the 3rd Energy Summit of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in New Delhi, Xiaobing Feng emphasized the increasing collaboration between Washington DC and New Delhi in the energy field.

Feng remembered that in February 2025, US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had confirmed the mutual role of both countries as "key producers and consumers in influencing local energy markets," and restated their dedication to a long-term bilateral energy security alliance encompassing oil, gas, and civil nuclear energy.

"Energy continues to be essential for the economic development of both countries—India and the US—as we strive to guarantee that our energy supplies can foster innovation," stated Feng.

She noted that since taking office, President Trump has worked to reduce unnecessary regulations, simplify approval processes, and enable American industries to innovate, which has contributed to reinstating the US as a global energy leader.

The official emphasized that Washington is "dedicated to collaborating with India amid worldwide energy issues."

The international energy sector is experiencing a significant shift caused by geopolitical turmoil and disruptions in supply chains. Feng pointed out that the United States and India share a lengthy history of working together in the energy field, which encompasses both technical and economic bilateral cooperation.

She highlighted three crucial domains where US-India cooperation can initiate significant transformation: diversifying energy sources, strengthening infrastructure resilience, and utilizing American knowledge in natural gas, nuclear energy, and innovative energy technologies.

US firms are enthusiastic about selling to and collaborating with Indian companies to create intelligent energy solutions that guarantee a dependable energy supply.
