In a filing with the exchange, the bank announced that its board has sanctioned Anand's appointment as 'Additional Director' in the MD & CEO category, for a three-year term starting on August 25, 2025.

The three-year term is set to continue until August 24, 2028, subject to shareholder approval at the bank's next general meeting.

In 2009, he became part of Axis Asset Management Co. Ltd., where he held the position of founding Managing Director and CEO. After achieving success in asset management, Anand moved to retail banking operations, assuming the role of President of Retail Banking at Axis Bank. Later, he was appointed to the Board of Axis Bank and became the Head of Wholesale Banking.

Anand's academic history features a commerce degree and a professional credential as a Chartered Accountant.

During the Q1 FY26 investor call, IndusInd Bank Chairman Sunil Mehta mentioned that the bank was focused on enhancing its senior management team by sourcing high-caliber leadership talent from both inside and outside the organization.

Anand emerged as a leading contender for the CEO role, following Axis Bank's announcement on April 25 that he would step down from the Deputy Managing Director position on August 3, marking the end of his third term as a Director on the bank's board.
