Jaishankar Meets Rubio, GCC Envoys Amid Energy Push

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, shortly after President Donald Trump declared a five-day halt on attacks aimed at Iran's power facilities, as per reports.
The conversation was Jaishankar's initial phone call with Rubio since the West Asia conflict began on 28 February. Their earlier face-to-face meeting occurred in early February in Washington DC, during a ministerial gathering focused on critical minerals.
Following the call, Jaishankar shared on X: "Engaged in an extensive teleconference tonight with US @SecRubio." We concentrated on the West Asia conflict and its effects on the global economy. We specifically discussed issues related to energy security. "Consented to stay connected."
On Monday (23 March), Jaishankar held discussions with ambassadors from the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries in New Delhi. After the meeting, he stated: "It was a pleasure to meet the Ambassadors of #GCC nations in Delhi this evening."

Shared perspectives on the situation in West Asia expressed gratitude for their ongoing support to the Indian community in the area.

Since the onset of the war, Jaishankar has communicated with the foreign ministers of every GCC member state, along with having five discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

That same day, he also conducted individual calls with the foreign ministers of Germany and Sri Lanka. Following a discussion with German FM Johann Wadephul, he remarked: "An insightful conversation last night with German FM Johann Wadephul regarding the West Asia conflict."
