Previously, Kalpa Power launched WATTBANK, the first commercialized Battery Energy Storage Service (BESS) in the country specifically catered to commercial and industrial (C&I) clients. WATTBANK allows companies to realize a 50 percent reduction in evening peak tariffs, leading to approximately Rs.80 lakh to Rs.1 crore in annual savings for a standard 1 MW facility.

By storing solar energy during daylight hours and distributing it efficiently during expensive evening periods, the system effectively manages energy costs. The initial deployment of a 130 kW system at Amar Business Zone in Pune is part of a holistic solar-based infrastructure, transforming the site into a fully sustainable operation with net-zero energy consumption.

WATTBANK is presented as a packaged service that includes energy evaluations, customized storage system design, comprehensive installation, continuous data monitoring, and thorough management throughout the entire lifecycle.

The system features Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, ensuring enhanced safety, efficiency, and an operational lifespan of 25 years. In addition to financial benefits, WATTBANK tackles larger issues such as managing variations in energy demand, enhancing grid reliability, and alleviating strain caused by overload.
