Kepler Aerospace Raises $8 Million Seed Round

Kepler Aerospace, a space infrastructure and mission operations firm based in Bengaluru, has secured $8 million in a seed funding round, with Blue Ashva Capital as the lead investor and Finvolve India Accelerator among the co-leaders. This round marks the company’s initial external funding since its establishment in 2018.

The firm intends to utilize the funds to create and implement space-oriented continuous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, while expanding its Mission Operations as a Service and Avionics as a Service offerings.

A primary emphasis will be the deployment of Kepler’s initial six swarming ISR satellites through two IDEX prime contracts acquired by the firm. The agreements focus on delivering swarming ISR constellations for India's defense space framework and are supported by approximately $4 million in funding through the IDEX initiative.

Kepler stated that its technology unites satellite and avionics systems, ground infrastructure, mission operations, and intelligence platforms. The organization aims to decrease intelligence latency from months to minutes by utilizing continuous ISR systems and cohesive mission infrastructure.

Its Mission Operations as a Service platform supports almost all Indian space firms and functions as the main mission operator for multiple ISRO satellites. Kepler manages a network exceeding 70 ground stations, offering satellite communication, tracking, telemetry, command, and mission operation services.

Navneet Singh, Founder and CEO, Kepler Aerospace, says, “The next generation of national security will increasingly depend on the ability to see, understand and respond faster. Space can provide that persistent layer of awareness, but it requires more than satellites; it requires the avionics, ground systems, mission operations and intelligence infrastructure to work as one integrated system.”

“This funding allows us to take the capabilities we have built over the last several years and deploy them at a meaningful scale. Our immediate focus is on executing our IDEX programs, deploying our first six swarming ISR satellites and continuing to build the infrastructure required for persistent, low-latency intelligence,” he adds.

Satya Bansal, founder of Blue Ashva Capital, noted that Kepler is creating an autonomous swarming satellite system where satellites can communicate, assign tasks, and function in orbit independently of a ground station.

Finvolve co-founder and India Accelerator founder and CEO Ashish Bhatia noted that Kepler’s capacity to merge engineering skills with a route to implementation was a significant distinguishing factor.

In the coming 12-24 months, Kepler intends to launch its initial six swarming ISR satellites, broaden its mission and avionics-as-a-service offerings, and enhance its engineering capabilities. It is relocating to a new facility and intends to hire 40 employees to its existing team.

This investment will help us deepen our technology stack, scale our mission and avionics-as-a-service offerings, and build the engineering organisation required to support larger strategic and commercial missions,” Sharma adds.
