L&T Secures Order for NTPC's Thermal Power Plant in Chhattisgarh
L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions, a division of engineering giant Larsen & Toubro, announced that it has obtained a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from government-owned NTPC Ltd for the main plant package of the 2x800 MW Lara Stage-III thermal power facility in Chhattisgarh.
A Limited Notice To Proceed (LNTP) is a legal document that permits a contractor to begin designated early tasks in a project prior to the final main contract or full funding being available.
L&T categorizes orders between Rs.10,000 crore and Rs.15,000 crore as "mega" orders.
L&T announced that it obtained the LNTP from NTPC for the primary plant package of the 2x800 MW Lara Stage III thermal power facility in Chhattisgarh. The notice to proceed will be issued after the project obtains environmental clearance and the LNTP period concludes, it stated.
The project involves building two 800 MW ultra-supercritical power generating units.
L&T's responsibilities include the design, engineering, production, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of boilers, steam turbines, generators, electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), air-cooled condensers (ACC) and their accessories, along with relevant mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation, and civil works, according to the company.

Recently, L&T obtained a significant contract for an extensive housing redevelopment initiative in Mumbai, enhancing its foothold in the urban infrastructure and residential building industry. The project has been granted to the company’s Residential, Commercial Buildings & Factories (RCF) business division by a notable client.
The agreement encompasses the planning and building of 26 tall residential towers, each reaching heights of up to 120 metres. The project will be carried out on a turnkey basis, encompassing structural construction, architectural finishing tasks, and comprehensive electromechanical services.

The redevelopment initiative aims to greatly enhance Mumbai’s contemporary housing infrastructure by substituting outdated residential buildings with modern high-rise developments featuring up-to-date amenities and high construction quality. With this approach, key construction elements will be produced at a specialized precast plant and then delivered to the construction site for assembly. This building method is anticipated to enhance speed of execution while upholding strict standards of quality, accuracy, and safety.
