Maruti Suzuki India Launches Training Program to Handle High Voltage Systems

Maruti Suzuki India has launched a comprehensive training program to handle high-voltage systems required for electric and hybrid vehicles. The customised training program has been introduced across 130 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 24 states and four Union Territories across the country.
The training will act as a vital catalyst for the quicker adoption of EVs in the nation.
The training program equips aspiring automotive technicians to adeptly and safely manage high-voltage electric systems, responding to industry demands as the quantity of these vehicles rises in the total vehicle fleet.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said it has invested around Rs 3.9 crore towards the initiative.
“We want to maximise the adoption of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the country. When we researched the reasons for low adoption of EVs, one of the major hurdles in the minds of the customers was confidence in after-sales support,” says MSI Senior Executive Officer Corporate Affairs Rahul Bharti.
He added that the company's training program will educate over 4,100 students annually.
According to Bharti, once the course concludes, these skilled technicians can choose to join the Maruti Suzuki service network or any other OEM.
MSI intends to release its inaugural EV — the Vitara in September this year, with most of the initial year’s production anticipated to be directed toward international markets.
Since the launch of the iconic Maruti 800 in 1983, the company has led a transformative revolution. Nonetheless, preferences and needs continue to change with every new generation of Indians. Maruti Suzuki views this not as a challenge, but rather as a motivation to surpass conventional limits in automobile production.
Integrating design and technology is one measure it has adopted to ensure its vehicles align seamlessly with modern expectations.
