Mphasis Appoints Punit Sood as an Independent Director

imgMphasis has designated Punit Sood as an Independent Director of the organization for a term of five years starting from December 11, 2025. This appointment has been made in accordance with the suggestions of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and awaits ratification from the shareholders.

Sood currently holds the position of Independent Director on the boards of ICICI Bank and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

With more than 36 years of experience in leadership roles within the realms of financial services and technology, he brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to his responsibilities.

Throughout his professional journey, he has held notable positions in major companies including Citibank, GE Capital, United Technologies, JPMorgan Chase, and NatWest, gradually advancing to Chief Information Officer roles in various locations.

 

In the years 2021-2023, Punit took on the role of Chairman for the NASSCOM GCC Council and subsequently remained a member for the 2023-2025 term. Additionally, he contributes his expertise as an External Advisor with BCG, offering guidance to clients on the strategic development of global capability centers. Sood has obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from IIM Ahmedabad and also holds a degree from IIT Roorkee.

Previously, Mphasis announced plans to enhance partnerships with startups, universities, and research collaborators to create scalable solutions for corporate customers. The company has been closely involved in Nasscom's InnoTrek initiative, particularly in guiding startups based in the US.

The company plans to work together with these startup companies to create high-quality products for businesses by giving them technical guidance, improving their marketing strategies, and giving them the opportunity to reach global customers. Their partnership will concentrate on Edge AI, IT strength, automation powered by AI, management of contracts driven by AI, and AI operations based on voice, assisting businesses in adopting technology more quickly.

Mphasis will keep assessing startup companies through InnoTrek 2025 to bring them into the Sparkle Innovation Programme, which assists them in forming product strategies and making connections with big business markets. This will help speed up their progress towards becoming leaders in global technology.
