imgNestle India has named Nitu Bhushan as their new head of human resources. Bhushan, who previously held the position of chief human resources officer at Pernod Ricard, is set to begin her new role on March 2, 2026, according to reports.

Bhushan, who is 47 years old, has more than 22 years of experience in the field of human resources. He is a skilled and energetic HR professional who has worked in various industries such as fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, banking, and technology companies.

Her selection is part of a larger turnover in leadership at the Indian division of the Swiss FMCG company.

There are multiple senior-level changes planned for the next 15 months in important departments such as finance and technical operations. According to her LinkedIn profile, Bhushan has recently joined Nestlé India following her previous position at Pernod Ricard. She has gained experience from leadership positions at Abbott, Mondelez, and HSBC. The recruitment for her new role was apparently handled by Egon Zehnder International, with no involvement from the India board in the selection process.

Nestlé India made several senior management changes in addition to the HR leadership change. Svetlana Boldina, the executive director of finance and control and CFO, will be taking on a new role within a Nestlé affiliate and will no longer be in her position in India starting January 31, 2026. The company mentioned that the announcement for her replacement will come at a later time.

Satish Srinivasan, the executive director - technical, will be retiring on May 31, 2026. To prepare for the transition, Jagdeep Singh Marahar has been named as the Whole-time Director starting from June 1, 2026, and will act as the Head - Technical in the meantime.

Nestlé India's change in leadership coincides with increased competition in the packaged foods and FMCG industry, with established companies like Nestlé, ITC, and Hindustan Unilever facing more pressure from local and direct-to-consumer brands, which is impacting their growth.

At an international scale, Nestlé SA, the parent company, revealed a plan in October to reduce approximately 16,000 positions within a two-year period as a part of a restructuring effort led by their new CEO, Philipp Navratil. The goal of this initiative is to enhance profits and prioritize higher-margin products.

Following the appointment of Manish Tiwary as managing director and chairman of Nestlé India, significant changes have been implemented in the country. Tiwary assumed the role of MD-designate on February 1, 2025, subsequent to his tenure at Amazon.

Experts point out that the alterations in leadership signify a crucial period of change as the organization adjusts to the evolving market conditions, regulatory oversight, and technological advancements in the rapidly evolving consumer goods industry. In October, Nestle SA made public its intention to reduce its workforce by 16,000 employees over the course of the next two years in order to undergo significant restructuring and prioritize products with higher profitability. This decision was credited to the company's newly appointed CEO, Philipp Navratil.
