Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang visited Washington with a clear message for the Trump administration: the U.S. can prevail in the AI competition if the entire globe, including China's vast developer community, operates on Nvidia platforms.

During his speech at the inaugural Nvidia developers' conference in Washington, Huang carefully balanced his admiration for President Donald Trump, attributing the "America First" strategy to increased investment in U.S. manufacturing and AI dominance, while also avoiding additional conflict with China.

Huang stated that the AI chip leader plans to construct seven new supercomputers for the U.S. Department of Energy and reported $500 billion in advanced chip bookings, but expressed regret over being excluded from the Chinese market.

Nvidia is central to the worldwide AI expansion, forging agreements globally while managing a U.S.-China trade conflict that may decide which nation's technology becomes dominant internationally. Trump is visiting Asia in anticipation of a scheduled meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, where the use of Nvidia's chips by China might be a significant topic.

"We desire for America to prevail in this AI competition." "There's no question about it," Huang stated. "We desire a global structure based on American technology frameworks." Definitely true. However, we must also be present in China to attract their developers. A policy that results in the U.S. losing 50 percent of global AI developers is not advantageous in the long run; it harms us more.

Huang stated that his company had not sought U.S. export licenses to ship its latest chips to China due to the stance of the Chinese government.

He stated at a press conference during the company's GTC developers event that they have clearly expressed their desire for Nvidia not to be present at this time." "I anticipate that this will evolve in the future as I believe China is a crucial market."
