Within four months following its Seed round led by 20VC, a Berlin-based startup, Peec AI has successfully secured a $21 million Series A funding round, spearheaded by the European venture capital firm Singular.

As consumers increasingly turn to ChatGPT instead of Google for inquiries, the landscape of product discovery is evolving. The potential to provide brands with visibility and control over this rapidly expanding search channel has positioned Peec AI as one of the most promising startups in Europe.

This development follows Peec AI's remarkable achievement of increasing its annual recurring revenue to over $4 million within just 10 months of its inception, attracting 1,300 companies and agencies to its platform.

These clients utilize Peec AI to oversee their brands' visibility in AI-driven search results. In addition to providing analytics on visibility and ranking, Peec AI also monitors sentiment and identifies the sources that influence these responses.

These insights enable the implementation of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), a method for marketing teams to enhance their brand's visibility in AI search outcomes, akin to the way SEO functions for conventional search engines. With this capability, the startup reports an addition of approximately 300 customers each month, and the recent funding will further propel this growth while facilitating expansion initiatives.

Thanks to its recent funding round, which received support from Antler, Combination VC, identity.vc, and S20, the startup intends to recruit approximately 40 individuals over the next six months. Most of these positions will be located in Berlin, where Meiners met his two co-founders during Antler’s Winter 2024 cohort: Tobias Siwonia, who is now the CTO of Peec AI, and Daniel Drabo, who serves as its CRO.

Rapid expansion and visibility may be crucial for success in a burgeoning category that is likely to become saturated, with competitors such as New York-based Profound and the Austrian startup OtterlyAI already in the field.

To attract additional talent, the 20-person startup is currently promoting itself through large outdoor advertisements across Germany’s capital. However, beyond its initiatives in Berlin, reports indicate that Peec AI also intends to establish a sales-oriented office in New York City in the second quarter of the upcoming year.

As more geographically-focused tools emerge and SEO dashboards incorporate AI tracking features, Peec AI aims to set itself apart by providing marketing teams with a dashboard that broadens its capabilities while remaining user-friendly, despite the rapidly evolving landscape of AI searches.

Rather than focusing on keywords like traditional SEO tools, Peec AI’s dashboard emphasizes prompts that brands wish to rank well for in search results. Clients can monitor up to 25 prompts for 75 euros per month ($87), with the option to increase to 100 prompts for 169 euros per month ($196). Both plans include free trials, in contrast to its enterprise package, which begins at 424 euros per month ($493).

Companies currently utilizing its tools include Axel Springer, Chanel, n8n, ElevenLabs, TUI, among others, as AI searches become increasingly prevalent across various sectors, catering to both B2C and B2B inquiries. Nevertheless, users also rely on ChatGPT and similar platforms for a multitude of other tasks and requests, necessitating that the startup navigate through the background noise effectively.

To facilitate this, Peec AI acquired raw datasets pertaining to these requests, but this is merely the initial step.

Despite the apparent simplicity, that proprietary data pipeline could be crucial to Peec AI’s success. This also highlights the fact that the AI value chain encompasses more than just models; the AI application layer and the foundational data have emerged as significant domains for European startups, now including Peec AI.
