PM Modi Welcomes Alexander Stubb

Prime Minister Narendra Modi graciously welcomed Alexander Stubb as he landed in India for a four-day state visit, describing the Finnish leader’s trip as a significant achievement for India-Finland relations. The visit, taking place until March 7, signifies President Stubb’s inaugural official journey to India since assuming office and highlights the strengthening relationship between the two democracies.
In a post on X greeting his guest, PM Modi states, “Welcome to India, President Alexander Stubb. I completely concur with you; your visit will elevate India-Finland relations to new levels. I am excited about our meeting tomorrow and your keynote speech at the Raisina Dialogue 2026."
President Stubb was welcomed ceremonially in New Delhi and met with a Guard of Honour upon his arrival. While visiting, he is anticipated to hold in-depth discussions with India's leadership on enhancing collaboration across various sectors and fortifying strategic connections.
The visit underscores Finland's position as a reliable ally for India within the European Union and Nordic area, particularly in sectors such as commerce, innovation, and democratic cooperation.

An important item on the schedule is the 11th Raisina Dialogue, India's premier conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. President Stubb will act as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, speaking to global leaders and policymakers at the three-day conference.

Alongside talks in New Delhi, President Stubb is set to meet with Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Prime Minister Modi will additionally hold a luncheon in his honor.
Following the capital engagements, President Stubb will head to Mumbai, where he will connect with state leaders, engage with Indian business executives, and deliver a lecture at the University of Mumbai.
