PM Narendra Modi Set the Foundation Stone of the CGD Project in Alipurduar

In a noteworthy advancement towards enhancing the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in India, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the CGD project in Alipurduar, West Bengal. Speaking to the audience, he expressed his good wishes to the people of West Bengal from the historic site of Alipurduar.

PM pointed out the area's cultural importance, stressing that it is characterized not just by its geographical boundaries but also by its rich traditions and connections. The Prime Minister noted that Alipurduar is bordered by Bhutan on one side, while Assam lies on the other, surrounded by the scenic beauty of Jalpaiguri and the pride of Cooch Behar as essential components of the region.

“As India moves towards becoming a developed nation, Bengal’s participation is both expected and essential Bengal’s development as a foundational pillar of India’s future.  Today marks the addition of another strong milestone in that journey. He announced the launch of the City Gas Distribution Project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, which will provide clean, safe, and affordable piped gas to over 2.5 lakh households,” says PM Modi.

PM Modi noted that this initiative will eliminate the concern of purchasing LPG cylinders, ensuring a secure gas supply to families. Additionally, the expansion of CNG stations will enhance access to green fuel, resulting in cost savings, time efficiency, and environmental benefits. He congratulated the citizens of Alipurduar and Cooch Behar on this new beginning. City Gas Distribution Project is not merely a pipeline initiative but a testament to the government’s commitment to doorstep delivery of essential services.

Stressing that West Bengal has played a significant role in India's cultural, intellectual, and scientific progress, Shri Modi stated that achieving a developed India is impossible without the development of Bengal.

Union Minister Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Member of Parliament for Alipurduar, and Shri Manoj Tigga were among the other dignitaries in attendance at the event.
