As per the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the launch of Noida International Airport represents a notable achievement in India's progress towards establishing itself as a prominent international aviation center.
This airport, designed to serve as a prominent entry point for the National Capital Region (NCR), symbolizes a substantial advancement in fortifying the nation's air transportation infrastructure and improving both regional and global connectivity.
The development of Noida International Airport as the second international airport for the Delhi NCR region is intended to complement the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport. By working together, the two airports will operate as a cohesive aviation system, alleviating congestion, increasing passenger capacity, and establishing Delhi NCR as a prominent global aviation hub.
The Noida International Airport is one of the most significant greenfield airport initiatives in India. Initially, the airport will be able to handle 12 million passengers per year, with the potential to scale up to 70 million passengers per year once fully developed.
It boasts a 3,900-meter runway that can accommodate large aircraft, as well as state-of-the-art navigation systems such as the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting to enable efficient, all-weather, 24/7 operations.
The airport integrates a comprehensive cargo system, which includes a Multi-Modal Cargo Hub consisting of an Integrated Cargo Terminal and logistics zones. The cargo facility has the capacity to handle more than 2.5 lakh metric tonnes per year, with the potential for expansion to approximately 18 lakh metric tonnes.
