ReNew disclosed that it has obtained a $100 million (approximately Rs.955 crore) funding arrangement from FMO (Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden), the Dutch development bank for entrepreneurship.

The 10-year financing extended to ReNew Solar Power through the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR) will aid renewable energy projects that are presently under construction within the ReNew group.

This transaction represents FMO's largest single-ticket investment in India's energy sector and its biggest 2X-aligned corporate financing in Asia thus far, highlighting the increasing importance of international development finance in aiding India's shift to clean energy.

The center meets the criteria of the 2X Challenge, an international program aimed at promoting women's economic involvement and empowerment through investment. Funds from the INR-denominated financing will be allocated to ReNew’s renewable energy projects currently under construction.

The long-term financing enhances ReNew's access to global capital and further broadens its funding sources in both domestic and international markets. Featuring a 10-year maturity that matches the extended lifespan of renewable energy assets, the facility offers consistent capital to aid the company’s growing portfolio and sustained expansion.

Kailash Vaswani, Chief Financial Officer of ReNew says, “The 10-year facility gives us access to stable, long-term capital at a critical stage of our portfolio build-out, while further diversifying our funding sources across international and domestic markets”.

Marnix Monsfort, Director & Head of Energy at FMO says, “As FMO’s largest investment in India’s energy sector, this transaction demonstrates our commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through impactful, large-scale financing solutions”.

For ReNew, the deal strengthens its capacity to attract substantial long-term global capital and utilize it for initiatives that enhance India's clean energy capabilities. It further strengthens the Company’s connection with FMO and demonstrates a mutual dedication to funding an energy transition that is sustainable, inclusive, and economically robust.

Recently, ReNew Wind Energy Pvt Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of clean energy firm ReNew, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Maharashtra, a western Indian state, for a planned Rs.70,000 crore (US$ 7.3 billion) integrated green data center park in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The green data center park initiative supports Maharashtra's aim to achieve a US$ 1 trillion economy by 2030. Earlier this year, Maharashtra established multiple MoUs and agreements with various digital infrastructure providers for initiatives in the broader MMR, particularly in regions in and near Navi Mumbai. These consist of initiatives from Tillman Global Holdings, AirtTrunk, Tata Group, and, more recently, Trentrar.
