RoachFest 2025, the inaugural user conference by Cockroach Labs in the region, was held on September 25 at JW Marriott Bengaluru. Cockroach Labs is the creator of CockroachDB, a cloud-native, distributed SQL database that provides multi-region consistency, compliance, and resilience on a large scale.

The event brought together fintech leaders, engineers, and executives to discuss how businesses are enhancing their data infrastructure for improved scalability, compliance, and AI-driven transformation.

Notable customers like Yubi (achieving 10x growth using a multi-cloud CockroachDB setup), Global Payments (modernizing old systems to achieve sub-second latency and compliance), and Groww (scaling to over 50 million customers through a MySQL-to-CockroachDB transition) shared their experiences.

The CockroachDB workshop provided a comprehensive overview of CockroachDB's architecture, combining theoretical insights with hands-on practice.

It addressed important subjects such as the principles of Distributed SQL, essential architectural elements, consensus and replication, as well as operations across multiple nodes. The workshop illustrated how CockroachDB automatically reallocates data and ensures consistency even when components fail.
