SWITCH Mobility Secures Order for 840 Electric Buses
Switch Mobility has obtained an order from Antony Road Transport Solutions for 840 electric buses to be launched in Delhi as part of Phase I of India's PM E-Drive initiative.
The announcement made by Switch Mobility on 28 September details an order split evenly between 420 air-conditioned electric buses measuring 9 metres and 420 measuring 12 metres.
The vehicles will be utilized by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Department of Delhi for passenger services in the Indian capital.

The contract has been finalized between Switch Mobility, a division of the Hinduja Group, and Antony Road Transport Solutions, chosen as the operator for Delhi in the CESL PM E-Drive Phase I tender.
The Delhi award comes after a wider initiative of extensive electric bus acquisitions in India. In January 2026, CESL initiated a bidding process for 6,230 electric buses as part of PM E-Drive and Delhi’s public transport initiative, comprising 3,330 units for Delhi and 2,900 for different cities.
Switch Mobility has obtained an order for 650 nine-meter electric buses for Mumbai and Pune as part of the PM E-Drive Phase II initiative. On the product front, the manufacturer unveiled its 9-meter EiV9 electric bus at Prawaas 5.0 in July 2026, incorporating modular battery setups, a PMVR motor capable of delivering up to 213 kW peak power, and dual-gun CCS2 rapid charging. Based on Vahan Dashboard data, India recorded 2,944 electric buses in the initial half of 2026, a 40 percent increase compared to the previous year, with Switch Mobility leading at 830 registrations and holding a 28.2 percent market share.
The contract for 840 units includes two bus lengths, comprising 420 electric buses of 9 metres and 420 vehicles of 12 metres. Switch Mobility states that all buses will feature air conditioning and be integrated into Delhi’s public transport system through DTC and the Delhi Transport Department.

The producer did not reveal the contract amount, delivery timeline, battery capacity, driving distance, or charging details for the vehicles in its statement. Antony Road Transport Solutions will manage the vehicles after being chosen in the CESL bidding process.
The contract was granted during Phase I of the Government of India’s PM E-Drive initiative and has been officially established directly between Switch Mobility and Antony Road Transport Solutions.
