Trump Signs Executive Order for AI Project, Genesis Mission

President Donald Trump is instructing the federal government to collaborate with tech firms and universities to transform government data into scientific breakthroughs, following his initiative to position artificial intelligence as the driver of the country’s economic future.
Trump announced the "Genesis Mission" through an executive order signed on Monday, which instructs the Department of Energy and national laboratories to create a digital platform for centralizing the country's scientific data.
It calls for universities and private sector partners to leverage their AI expertise to assist the government in addressing engineering, energy, and national security challenges, such as optimizing the nation's electric grid, as per White House officials who spoke to reporters on the condition of anonymity prior to the signing of the order. Officials did not specifically indicate that pursuing medical advancements was a component of the project.
