Uno Minda and Starcharge Partner to Sell EV Charging Equipment in India

Separator

Uno Minda, formerly known as Minda Industries, has forged a Technical License Agreement with StarCharge Energy (StarCharge) to produce and distribute electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) in India. These EVSE units consist of wall-mounted AC chargers tailored for convenient home charging, typically sold alongside electric vehicles by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to enhance home charging convenience for customers. This collaboration with StarCharge strengthens Uno Minda's EV-focused product lineup for the passenger car segment in the market.

StarCharge, a prominent provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and microgrid solutions, operates across 67 countries and regions. The company maintains manufacturing facilities in the USA, Vietnam, and China. Having established strategic partnerships with more than 60 OEMs and numerous renowned energy companies worldwide, StarCharge holds a significant position in the global market.

With the increasing demand for electric vehicles, the importance of efficient and dependable EV charging solutions becomes increasingly critical. A significant barrier to EV adoption is the inadequate public charging infrastructure. Apart from cost and speed, the waiting time for vehicle charging at public stations is notably dissatisfactory. Consequently, the majority of global EV charging demand is currently fulfilled at home or workplace rather than through publicly accessible chargers, as reported by the International Energy Agency. Through their collaboration, Uno Minda and StarCharge aspire to revolutionize home charging solutions, accelerating the adoption of faster and cleaner mobility in India.

Nirmal K Minda, CMD, Uno Minda Group said, “Uno Minda is proud to announce the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio into the passenger car segment through this strategic partnership with StarCharge, a global leader in EV charging solutions.  For decades, Uno Minda has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of emerging automotive technologies and a commitment to their successful localization in India. This collaboration further strengthens our dedication to ‘Make in India’ and to accelerating the nation’s transition to a sustainable and electrified future”.

Shao Danwei, Chairlady, StarCharge said, “We are pleased to partner with Uno Minda to pursue EV charging systems and solutions opportunities in India. We are optimistic about the outlook for EV adoption in India and believe there will be tremendous opportunities for home charging solutions. As a leading global player in the EV charging space, with extensive capabilities across the entire value chain, we are confident in our ability to combine our expertise with Uno Minda’s to develop cost-competitive and user-friendly solutions for the Indian electric vehicle market”.
