US Dominates AI, China Gains Ground with Cost Advantage: JPMorgan

According to a report by financial services giant J.P. Morgan, the United States remains the leader in the global artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, but China is rising as a strong competitor with cost-effective AI models that are gaining traction among enterprises.
In the report "Semiquincententacles: the US grip on global markets at 250," J.P. Morgan stated that the US maintains a strong advantage in AI readiness, innovation, infrastructure, and investment, despite Chinese companies quickly advancing in the commercial implementation of AI models.
"The US is the most dynamic and ready nation for AI, with China not far behind on certain metrics," the report noted, referencing various international AI readiness measures.
The report indicates that the United States leads in AI development due to its dominance in cutting-edge AI laboratories, semiconductor technology, large-scale cloud infrastructure, and productivity improvements associated with artificial intelligence.
J.P. Morgan observed that American firms remain the leaders in the AI hardware landscape. Nvidia represents the majority of worldwide AI accelerator revenues, whereas major tech companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta are progressively using custom-created chips to cut expenses and enhance computing power.
