Vivo India Promotes Mayank Prabhakar as Chief Media Officer

Smartphone Company Vivo India has promoted Mayank Prabhakar to Chief Media Officer, starting February 2026.
Prabhakar has been a part of the company since 2021 and formerly held the position of General Manager, overseeing marketing and digital marketing for the brand in India. In his broader position, he will manage media strategy and associated functions for Vivo’s activities in the nation.
Prior to his tenure at Vivo India, Prabhakar was employed at Cheil Worldwide, where he held the position of General Manager for ecommerce marketing. He first joined the agency as Senior Account Director and then led marketing initiatives focused on ecommerce.
Prabhakar has over 17 years of experience in mobile handsets, consumer electronics, ecommerce services, and technology industries. Earlier in his career, he was employed at One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, serving as Manager for Enterprise Business from 2006 to 2011.
Vivo entered the Indian market in late 2014 and has since expanded to make India its biggest market, as per reports.

Counterpoint Research reports that the smartphone brand recently topped the Indian smartphone market with a 20percent market share by volume, not including its sub-brand iQOO. The Y and T series of the company played a key role in total volumes, whereas the X series saw a 185percent increase compared to the previous year.

The expansion of the X series is credited to Vivo’s emphasis on cameras, its collaboration with ZEISS, and the introduction of the X200 FE, which connects the V series with the premium X series.

Vivo India, founded in 2014 and based in Gurugram, ranks among the top five smartphone brands in India. Dedicated to the "Make in India" initiative, all of its smartphones are produced locally in Greater Noida. The firm focuses on high-end, camera-centric gadgets, boasting a strong, extensive distribution network both offline and online, including more than 550 service centers.
