Wipro Appoints Global Tech Veteran Laura Marie Miller

Wipro, a prominent provider of IT services, has named Laura Marie Miller as a new member of its board of directors, with a term of five years beginning on April 1, 2026, contingent upon the consent of shareholders.
Miller has over 20 years of experience in guiding digital transformation, modernizing technology, and developing operational strategies at multinational corporations.
Before her current position, she was a member of the senior management team at Macy's, contributing to the development of the company's digital, data, and AI strategy.

Prior to that, she served in leadership positions at InterContinental Hotels Group and First Data, gaining experience in retail, hospitality, payments, and global technology operations. Miller has vast experience in serving on boards of public companies.
She has previously held a directorship at EVO Payments, which was subsequently acquired by Global Payments and LGI Homes. Currently, she holds the position of non-executive director at NCR Voyix and Ahold Delhaize.
Rishad Premji, the Executive Chairman of Wipro, expressed that the appointment of Miller would enhance the technological leadership and governance capabilities of the board.
The Board of Wipro recently authorized the extension of Deepak M. Satwalekar's tenure as an independent director for an additional five years, beginning on July 1, 2025, and ending on June 30, 2030, pending approval from shareholders.
The company disclosed a consolidated net profit of Rs.3,119 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, representing a decrease of four percent quarter-on-quarter and seven percent year-on-year on the financial aspect, primarily due to cost pressures such as adjustments linked to labor codes.

When excluding the effects of labor code modifications, the net profit rose to Rs.3,360 crore, an increase of 3.6 percent QoQ and 0.3 percent YoY. During the quarter, the fourth largest IT company in India recruited 6,529 new employees, mainly through the hiring of fresh graduates, bringing its total workforce to 242,021.
Earlier, Wipro introduced an innovative operating model designed to cater to enterprise functions. This model integrates advisory, AI, and enterprise transformation services, providing end-to-end accountability in four key functional areas: People & Change; Supply Chain & Operations; Finance Transformation; and Sales, Marketing & Customer Experience (CX).
