In September 2025, Ackermans & van Haaren and Venturi Partners agreed to invest EUR 41 million in VKC Nuts, with the deal expected to close in the fourth quarter of the same year. Following the agreement, Ackermans & van Haaren will hold an 18.2 percent minority stake in the company.

The Ministry of Nuts, a recent direct-to-consumer snacking brand introduced in November 2020 under the label SellPro Commerce, conducted its online launch in May 2021. Established by Ravi Dubey, a computer science graduate with prior management experience at prominent digital marketing firms, the company is focused on addressing the nation's craving for healthier snack choices by offering a cost-effective and varied range of products to stimulate growth in the food and beverages sector.

Situated in Andheri, Mumbai, the Ministry of Nuts is operated by a team of 50 individuals and offers an assortment of 150 distinctive stock keeping units (SKUs) encompassing premium nuts, nut butters, dried fruits, berries, and gift sets of the highest quality.   Its primary operations are managed from Andheri using the fulfillment services of Pickrr in major cities such as New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Thane.

According to reports, Amazon accounted for 8-9 percent of marketplace orders, while Flipkart and Paytm each contributed 2-3percent during regular periods.

 

Recognizing the need for efficiency and scalability, the brand recognized the necessity to automate its operations to overcome various challenges such as inventory tracking, SKU performance evaluation, stock optimization, preservation, categorization, and management of courier partners to ensure a reliable order fulfillment process.

Tulsi Dry Fruits: Veteran Founder’s Strategic Vision

Seventy-four-year-old Balbeer Bajaj was faced with the loss of his father at the age of 10, which served as the catalyst for his early sense of independence. Balbeer commenced his professional journey at the age of 22, shouldering the responsibility of providing for his family single-handedly.   

Beginning his career in the mid-1960s with a trading enterprise named KBB Nuts in Amritsar, Punjab, and Bajaj specialized in the distribution of imported Afghan dry fruits. After nearly three decades in the trading sector, he discerned that his business had reached a ceiling in terms of expansion. Realizing the necessity for further growth, Bajaj made the strategic decision to pivot towards manufacturing.

Having accumulated over three decades of experience in the wholesale dry fruit trade, Bajaj reasoned that it made more sense to venture into an allied field rather than embark on an entirely new industry. He founded a new production unit in Amritsar in 1996 for the processing of dry fruits and simultaneously introduced a brand known as 'Tulsi' for retailing dry fruits, including raw and flavored almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts, and other varieties.

In the span of the last twenty years, KBB has advanced from strength to strength.  Presently, the company boasts three cutting-edge manufacturing facilities located in Delhi, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh, coupled with a widespread retail network spanning throughout India. With an annual turnover of Rs 700 crore, KBB utilizes a workforce of 2,500 individuals and has expanded its exports to over 20 countries in America, Europe, and the Middle East.
