Akash Ambani Showcases JioHotstar Innovations at Reliance AGM

Akash Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, announced the introduction of JioFrames, an AI-powered smart glass. Speaking at the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, Ambani mentioned that JioFrames would serve as an AI-driven wearable platform designed specifically for India. He noted that the smart glasses support multiple Indian languages and enable users to interact directly with Jio's AI voice assistant.
Last year, Jio showcased these smart glasses at the Indian Mobile Congress, but there was no official launch announcement at that time.
According to technology analysts, JioFrames takes inspiration from Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, and Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's founder, stated as recently as July this year that the true innovation in wearables will come with the introduction of smart glasses.
Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, created in partnership with eyewear leader EssilorLuxottica, have gained popularity among consumers. After launching the second generation of the smart glasses in October 2023, Meta has sold nearly 2 million units. In fact, during the second quarter report in July, Zuckerberg disclosed that sales of the smart glasses had tripled, significantly boosting the tech company's revenue.

Additionally, Jio launched VoicePrint, a voice cloning and lip-sync technology driven by AI, which will allow users to stream content in various Indian languages.
At the AGM, Reliance also introduced a new joint venture focused on AI in collaboration with Meta.
