A new agreement has been signed by the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (Amul) and Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches (COVAP), a prominent Spanish cooperative, to market Amul milk in Spain and the EU.

H.E. Dinesh K. Patnaik, the Indian ambassador to Spain, and D. Fernando Heredia Noguera, the deputy director for international relations and community affairs at the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, attended the official launch, which took place at the Indian Embassy in Madrid.

Senior leaders from Amul and its Spanish distribution partners were also in attendance, along with COVAP President Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno.

Amul is the biggest farmer-owned dairy cooperative in the world, with 3.6 million dairy farmers

With a yearly revenue of over $ 11 billion and the handling of over 12 billion liters of milk, Amul is considered the strongest dairy brand in the world and the largest consumer products group brand in India.

According to the IFCN, Amul is the eighth-largest milk processor in the world.

It runs 112 dairy factories throughout India, handling 42 million liters of milk daily.

Amul increased the price of its fresh pouch milk nationwide by Rs.2 per litre in April of this year. The cooperative emphasized that the maximum retail price has increased by 3–4 percent, which is much less than the average rate of food inflation.

The first-tier cooperative in Spain, COVAP, was established in 1959 in Pozoblanco, Córdoba. A vital component of Andalusia's agri-food industry, COVAP has more than 2,000 active farmer-members.

Every year, their dairy factory, which is among the most sophisticated in Europe, processes over 400 million gallons of milk. COVAP exports to more than 30 nations, including markets in Asia, the US, and the UK.
