Balasubramanian S, a seasoned leader in media and digital business, has declared his departure from Dinamalar after over 16 years, effective at the close of October 2026, concluding an important phase in his nearly 30-year career in media, advertising, digital business, and transformation.

Balasubramanian, who became part of Dinamalar in 2010 and has steered its digital operations during a time of swift transformation in the publishing sector, noted that he is now aiming for a wider business leadership role encompassing media, digital, and new platforms. He has not yet revealed his next step.

Throughout the years, his responsibilities grew beyond digital publishing to include business strategy, revenue enhancement, audience expansion, content and monetization, digital advertising and AdTech, technology, partnerships, and cross-departmental transformation projects.

In a LinkedIn post announcing his decision, Balasubramanian S says, “After 16+ years, I’ve decided to move on from Dinamalar at the end of this month.” “What started as a digital-media journey gradually became much broader — understanding audiences, building revenue opportunities, bringing people and technology together, and solving business challenges in a constantly changing environment,” he says.

Balasubramanian launched his media career in 1997 at Dinakaran Newspaper, where he worked for over eight years, starting as a Marketing Executive. He later joined Galatta, holding the position of Senior Vice President – Ad Sales at Galatta.com and Galatta Cinema magazine from October 2005 until December 2009.

He became part of Dinamalar in 2010 and proceeded to establish and oversee its digital operations during a time when the media sector shifted from mainly print-focused models to digital audiences, online advertising, programmatic systems, data-driven monetisation, and tech-based publishing.

At Dinamalar, he has been responsible for digital strategy and business expansion, audience and content enhancement, monetization, advertising, technology, collaborations, and cross-departmental projects.

Moving forward, Balasubramanian has expressed that his upcoming phase will center on creating and evolving digital enterprises, especially where audience insight, content, technology, AI, and sustainable revenue strategies intersect.
