Sarvam AI Names Sashikumar Sreedharan as President and CBO

Sarvam AI has named Sashikumar Sreedharan, the ex-Managing Director of Google Cloud India, as its President and Chief Business Officer (CBO), enhancing the company’s business leadership as it grows its enterprise AI initiatives.

Sreedharan’s hiring brings valuable cloud and enterprise technology expertise to Sarvam AI’s leadership as the company expands its commercial activities surrounding its comprehensive sovereign AI platform.

His role encompasses the company’s business direction as Sarvam persists in creating AI models, infrastructure, and applications for enterprises, developers, and government entities.

Sreedharan becomes part of Sarvam AI after over a year serving as Managing Director for Google Cloud India. His professional profile indicates that he has been in the role since July 2025, after serving as Chief Operating Officer, Google Cloud APAC, from September 2023 to July 2025.

Prior to his tenure at Google, Sreedharan held the position of Managing Director at Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt. Ltd. from February 2018 to September 2023, where he directed the enterprise commercial operations in India. The transition contributes a leadership background that encompasses cloud, enterprise technology, and commercial operations to Sarvam AI, which is developing products in fields such as voice agents, speech-to-text, translation, document digitization, and enterprise applications.

The leadership selection comes after a major funding achievement for Sarvam AI. In June 2026, the company revealed the initial close of its $300 million Series B funding round, securing $234 million at a post-money valuation of $1.5 billion

The funding has arrived as Sarvam broadens its emphasis from AI model development to a wider technology stack that includes infrastructure and applications. Its declared emphasis is on creating AI systems tailored for Indian languages and applications, while allowing organizations to implement AI with enhanced control over their data and infrastructure.

For Sarvam, the appointment occurs amid a shift from developing core AI capabilities to increasing their application in commercial and institutional scenarios.

Sarvam AI was established in 2023 by Dr. Vivek Raghavan and Dr. Pratyush Kumar. The firm has centered its efforts on developing sovereign AI infrastructure and applications for India, with its technology encompassing language, speech, and business applications. Its platform focuses on businesses, developers, and government agencies, with applications spanning fields like financial services, customer experience, automation, and digital services.

Sreedharan’s transition signifies a change from a major global cloud platform to an Indian AI firm working in the developing sovereign AI sector.

 

His earlier positions at Google Cloud and Microsoft have focused on enterprise technology and commercial leadership, ensuring alignment with the enterprise-oriented vision of his new role at Sarvam AI.

The appointment occurs as Indian tech firms progressively develop AI capabilities focused on local language needs, data management, and domestic infrastructure. For Sarvam, the upcoming phase focuses on not just advancing AI technology but also on increasing its business and institutional presence.
