Dentsu Appoints Bishwarup Chakrabarti as its General Counsel
Dentsu has named experienced legal expert Bishwarup Chakrabarti as its General Counsel for South Asia, enhancing the group's legal and governance management throughout the region. Bishwarup revealed the decision on LinkedIn, indicating his shift from Eros Media World PLC, where he was most recently the General Counsel.
In his post, he expressed he was “happy to announce” that he had become part of Dentsu, and looked back on a 20-year career in the media, entertainment, and digital landscape, influenced by collaborating with top-performing teams and managing intricate regulatory conditions.

He also conveyed excitement about starting this new phase with Dentsu’s leadership and teams.
Bishwarup started at Eros Digital in 2020 as the Legal Head and was later promoted to General Counsel at Eros Media World PLC. In this position, he managed essential legal duties such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), public policy, regulatory strategy, and corporate governance amid a major transition for the organization.
Prior to Eros, he served as Associate Vice President at Sony Pictures Networks India, overseeing a diverse range of legal and compliance issues. He additionally held the position of Associate Director at Viacom18, enhancing his understanding of India's broadcast and entertainment sector.

Earlier in his career, Bishwarup collaborated with prominent law firms like Krishna & Saurastri and Paras Kuhad & Associates, establishing a solid foundation in corporate and commercial law.
With more than 15 years of experience, Bishwarup is recognized for providing strategic legal solutions that align with business goals. His specialties encompass corporate law, compliance, risk management, intellectual property, and regulatory matters across industries like technology, media, and e-commerce.
He is an alumnus of the University of Calcutta and has obtained an LL.M. from the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru.
