EBG Group, POSCO International to Boost Daewoo’s India Expansion

imgEBG Group has signed a strategic brand licensing deal with South Korean conglomerate POSCO International to enhance and broaden Daewoo’s footprint in India’s significant domestic appliances sector.

The collaboration represents an important advancement in EBG Group's long-term strategy for consumer appliances and strengthens its current association with the Daewoo brand.

The deal encompasses categories that account for almost 70 percent of the Home & Kitchen Appliances sector and seeks to establish Daewoo as a top consumer appliances brand in India.

As a component of the growth strategy, EBG Group has pledged an investment of Rs.100 crore over the upcoming three years. The funding will be allocated to product innovation, expanding retail presence, enhancing distribution systems, implementing localisation efforts, and introducing new appliance lines that meet evolving consumer demands.

The firm is likewise establishing a nationwide retail network to back the growth strategy. The inaugural flagship Daewoo experience store in Delhi is close to opening, with three more stores in development. EBG Group aims to open around 100 stores throughout India by the year 2027.

According to the agreement, EBG Group will oversee the development, production, distribution, and market growth of Daewoo-branded appliances nationwide.

 

The starting portfolio will emphasize key household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, dishwashers, along with an expanded array of consumer products through a gradual launch.

The firm stated that the products will utilize cutting-edge Korean technology and aim to provide performance, dependability, and energy efficiency for consumers in India. Approximately 16 percent of the original portfolio will be made up of energy-efficient items to promote more sustainable usage.

Together, we aim to deliver innovative, reliable, and energy-efficient products that meet the evolving expectations of Indian consumers.”

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Irfan Khan, Founder of EBG Group says, “We are delighted to partner with POSCO International to bring Daewoo’s trusted global legacy to millions of Indian households. This partnership lays the foundation for building a long-term consumer appliances business in India. Through our planned investment, localisation roadmap, extensive distribution network, and customer-focused growth strategy, we are committed to making Daewoo a preferred brand for Indian consumers.” 

Highlighting the company’s manufacturing plans, Dr. Khan adds, “The products will be initially assembled in India using imported components, with localisation levels planned to increase progressively from 20 percent to 80 percent over time. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India vision, supports domestic value creation, and is expected to generate employment opportunities across manufacturing, retail, distribution, and after-sales operations.”

Daewoo products will be available through an omnichannel network encompassing company-run stores, direct-to-consumer pathways, online marketplaces, quick commerce platforms, general trade locations, and electronics retail partners.

In its future plans, Daewoo intends to launch “DAEWOO One,” a cohesive smart home system aimed at linking various appliances through one platform. The firm plans to integrate AI and IoT technologies to provide a smooth connected-home experience while broadening its range of energy-efficient offerings.

Through the new alliance, EBG Group seeks to boost Daewoo’s expansion in India’s rapidly changing appliances sector while responding to increasing consumer interest in connected and tech-driven home solutions.
