PM Meets Mauritius Counterpart, Reviews Bilateral Cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam during the Seychelles' Golden Jubilee National Day festivities, and the two leaders talked about different facets of bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders talked about the future in areas like capacity building, skills development, defense, energy, and cyber security.

This marked the fourth meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Ramgoolam since Ramgoolam began his term in November 2024.
The two leaders talked about the continuing collaboration between India and Mauritius. They also assessed the advances achieved in executing the Special Economic Package provided by India. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance India places on the advancement and growth of Mauritius, highlighting that the current bilateral initiatives will enhance Mauritius's healthcare, connectivity, sustainable development, and blue economy.
The two Prime Ministers concurred on the importance of the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership, aligned with India's Vision MAHASAGAR and Neighbourhood First policy, and their mutual dedication to the Global South. The leaders reiterated their commitment to collaborate closely for shared growth and to ensure peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region.
"Had an excellent meeting with Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Prime Minister of Mauritius. We met at the start of the year during the AI Summit and now we have the chance to meet in Seychelles. We discussed ways to strengthen the India-Mauritius partnership", PM Modi said in a post on X.
"The progress being made across every area of our Enhanced Strategic Partnership is a matter of satisfaction for us".
"A number of projects are being implemented under our Special Economic Package. We also discussed the way ahead with regard to sectors such as capacity building, skilling, defence, energy, cyber security and more".
While in Seychelles, PM Modi met with Bernard Georges, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly.

"Had a good meeting with Mr. Bernard Georges, Leader of the Opposition in the Seychelles National Assembly. Discussed various subjects relating to the India-Seychelles partnership. Expressed gratitude for his warm remarks at the National Assembly earlier today, after my address. Glad to see the India-Seychelles relations having broad support across all sections of society in Seychelles," he said in a post on X.
The discussions encompassed the entire range of bilateral relations, with the leaders consenting to enhance collaboration in health, education, capacity building, digital transformation, sustainable development, social infrastructure, renewable energy, maritime security, and defense. They likewise shared perspectives on both regional and global issues, including difficulties in the Indian Ocean area, such as unlawful fishing, drug smuggling, and piracy.

Both leaders conveyed their pleasure regarding the advancements achieved in executing projects and initiatives within the Special Economic Package declared by India. The Prime Minister reiterated India's dedication to aiding Seychelles' developmental goals and to enhance the strong and lasting partnership between the two nations.
