HDFC ERGO General Insurance Names Parthanil Ghosh as MD and CEO

HDFC ERGO General Insurance has recently disclosed that Parthanil Ghosh will be promoted to the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

This decision was formally sanctioned by the company's Board of Directors, and is scheduled to be implemented on April 16, 2026, pending approvals from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India and other requisite regulatory bodies.

Ghosh's appointment will see him take over from the current Managing Director, Anuj Tyagi.

With over 30 years of experience in the financial services and insurance sectors, Ghosh is a seasoned leader who possesses more than 16 years of specialized knowledge in general insurance.

He assumed the role of Executive Director at HDFC ERGO in 2016 as a result of the merger with L&T General Insurance.

Over time, Parthanil has been instrumental in developing the growth strategy of the company. Through his guidance, the company bolstered its retail franchise and broadened its capabilities in various areas such as commercial lines, crop insurance, underwriting, reinsurance strategy, claims management, and digital and technology initiatives.

He played a crucial role in key integration and consolidation initiatives, such as the successful integration of L&T General Insurance and Apollo Munich Health Insurance. His leadership in overseeing mergers, cultural assimilation, and operational change has enhanced HDFC ERGO's standing as one of the top private sector general insurers in India.
