HDI Global Names Hiro Yamasaki as MD of Japanese Branch

HDI Global (HDI) has appointed Hiro Yamasaki as Managing Director and Legal Representative of its Japanese division, signifying a significant step in the Corporate & Specialty insurer's expansion strategy for the area.

Yamasaki has more than 25 years of experience in underwriting commercial Property & Casualty, managing portfolios, and leading internationally.

Hiro Yamasaki has occupied senior positions in Japan and the U.S., overseeing extensive underwriting projects and managing organization-wide Nat-Cat risk.

Most recently, he worked in a worldwide corporate underwriting role, where he led underwriting improvements, Nat-Cat exposure optimization, and developed AI strategies within the underwriting field. His proven success in disciplined underwriting, cross-cultural leadership, and sustainable growth will aid HDI Global Japan’s next phase of progress.

Casey Sandler, who has successfully managed the Japanese branch on an interim basis since 1 August 2025, has decided to continue his career outside of the company.
