
IIIT-Bangalore Recognized with Global Green University Award

The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) has once more received global acclaim for its steadfast dedication to sustainability.
On September 24, 2025, Prof. Debabrata Das, the Director of IIIT-B, accepted the esteemed Global Green University Award on behalf of IIIT-B at the Green School Conference 2025, held at the ILR School, Cornell University, New York.
This is the third year in a row that IIIT-B has received this global recognition, highlighting the institute's leadership in promoting sustainable practices in academics, research, and campus activities.
The accolade acknowledges universities that show significant effectiveness in lessening their environmental impact, encouraging the use of renewable energy, supporting green innovation, and cultivating a sense of environmental responsibility in both students and faculty.

Prof. Das, accepting the award for the whole IIIT-B community, emphasized the institute's comprehensive outlook on sustainability. “This acknowledgment highlights not only our campus but also the united endeavor of the IIIT-B family – faculty, students, staff, and alumni – who have all taken on the duty of creating a more sustainable future,” he stated.

The acknowledgment at Cornell University signifies the institution's increasing impact as a worldwide leader in sustainable education and innovation.
