India, Israeli Ink Landmark Deal to Slash Global Pesticide Use

India and Israel have made significant progress in agricultural collaboration by initiating a new joint venture aimed at producing and marketing Indian pheromone-based crop protection technologies worldwide, according to reports.
The declaration was issued during the closing session of the First International Science & Technology Clusters Conference, which took place in New Delhi, featuring ATGC Biotech Pvt. Ltd. (India) and Luxembourg Industries Ltd. (Israel) officially entered into licensing agreements to establish Semiophore Ltd., a joint venture between India and Israel with equal ownership.
The initiative represents a first for both nations, as it is the inaugural instance of Indian semiochemical technology being out-licensed and manufactured in Israel.
High-ranking representatives from India and Israel were present at the ceremony, including Principal Scientific Adviser Ajay Kumar Sood, Deputy Chief of Mission Fares Saeb from Israel, and Vishal Choudhary from the Office of the PSA to the Government of India, along with other attendees.
Saeb stated that the pact enhances the enduring collaboration between the two countries in agricultural technology and food security. Israel and India have a historic collaboration in technology and agriculture. The licensing exchange today marks a significant step that enhances our partnership in sustainable, climate-resilient solutions.

He noted that the introduction of Semiophore signifies the "increasing worldwide importance of Indo-Israeli innovation."
Uri Rubinstein, Israel's Agriculture Attache, highlighted that ATGC Biotech has participated in various Indo-Israel agricultural training programs and Centres of Excellence. "Feedback from farmers regarding their technologies has been very positive," he stated, noting that the new initiative creates additional possibilities for collaborative agricultural innovation.

Markandeya Gorantla, Managing Director of ATGC Biotech, stated that the agreement signifies a significant advancement for India's bioeconomy. "For the first time, Indian semiochemical technologies will be produced and marketed in Israel."
"Using Semiophore, India and Israel are collaboratively determining the future of sustainable crop protection," he stated.
Moshik Fish, CEO of Luxembourg Industries, stated that the collaboration leverages the advantages of each nation. "We are thrilled to implement India's advanced pheromone technologies throughout Israeli farming," he stated.
Semiophore Ltd. plans to introduce 18 technologies developed in India, featuring ultra-low-dose pheromone dispensers, mating disruption platforms, and controlled-release systems, to global markets like Israel, Brazil, and the United States.
The technologies seek to cut insecticide usage by over 80 percent, providing an eco-friendly substitute to chemical pesticides as numerous nations transition to low-toxicity crop protection.

The declaration was made at a conference uniting representatives from over 38 nations to discuss collaboration in agriculture, sustainability, environmental issues, and deep-tech industries.
