Industry Leaders Push Energy Efficiency and Net Zero Goals

Alfa Laval, in collaboration with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in India, hosted the innovative Energy Efficiency Forum which convened policymakers, top global industry experts, technologists, and academia to deliberate on India's journey towards achieving Net Zero emissions.

The symposium brought attention to the Energy Efficiency Movement (EEM) and emphasized the importance of utilizing innovative technologies and improving processes to speed up industrial decarbonization and increase energy conservation.

One of the founding members of EEM, Alfa Laval, mentioned that this international non-profit initiative has grown to include 640 corporate members from 49 nations, with 140 based in India.

Addressing the assembled guests, Ruchika Drall, the esteemed Guest of Honor and Deputy Secretary of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the Indian government, elaborated on India's strategies for reaching Net Zero emissions.

During his inaugural speech, Thomas Moller, who serves as the Executive Vice President of the Energy Division at Alfa Laval, presented the company's worldwide outlook on cutting-edge technologies and effective strategies that facilitate the shift of industries towards sustainable practices.

He says, “Alfa Laval is taking an active lead in driving the energy transition forward, providing heat transfer solutions that unlock the full potential of energy efficiency".

 

"With nearly a century of working in energy efficiency, we are helping industries save energy and cut emissions".

Ashish Lele, Director - CSIR, National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), delivered the keynote address and says, “Breakthroughs in process technologies and advanced materials are vital for India’s energy efficiency. Public research institutions like CSIR-NCL drive this progress by partnering with industry. I applaud Alfa Laval for creating a platform that fosters collaboration for a Net Zero future”.

Subhasis Das, President and Managing Director, Alfa Laval India, elaborated on the way forward and said, “Energy efficiency is the first fuel and India’s most powerful lever for achieving Net Zero by 2070. At Alfa Laval India, we believe in collaborating with our customers to co-create energy efficiency solutions, to turn this vision into reality. Join us in the EEM”.

The Forum showcased two significant panel discussions and introduced Alfa Laval's cutting-edge heat exchanger technology. Professionals from various sectors such as industry, academia, and government presented effective strategies to expedite India's Net Zero mission, with a special focus on advancements in electrification, thermal optimization, green hydrogen, and collaborative approaches for industrial sustainability.

The conversations highlighted tangible solutions, policy support systems, and cooperative initiatives to address the obstacles hindering widespread decarbonization efforts. The occasion also commemorated the introduction of the Alfa Nova GL50, a proprietary heat exchanger known for its fusion-bonded construction using high-quality stainless steel.

This innovative design aims to provide exceptional energy efficiency, particularly beneficial for industries involved in green hydrogen, fuel cells, combined heat and power, and co-generation. The utilization of Alfa Nova GL50 is set to promote sustainable manufacturing practices and enhance economic viability.
