L&T Tech Services Bags Nokia Contract to Support R&D in India

L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has entered into a five-year agreement with Nokia to assist the Finnish telecommunications equipment manufacturer’s engineering and research and development efforts in India, the company announced.
According to the agreement, LTTS will support Nokia's R&D initiatives in product engineering, software development, system integration, and product assistance. A dedicated Offshore Development Center (ODC) will be established in India for the project, along with a distinct engineering team to assist Nokia’s Technology Center worldwide.
The collaboration arises as Nokia enhances its research and development initiatives focused on AI infrastructure and sophisticated connectivity technologies. LTTS announced that the new facility would integrate data-center-quality computing and AI infrastructure engineering alongside the creation of next-generation telecom solutions.
The Indian engineering team will engage in areas such as 5G networks, intelligent automation, AI-based operations, and AI infrastructure, partnering with Nokia's worldwide R&D teams using an integrated operational framework.
For LTTS, the agreement aligns with its Lakshya 31 approach, especially its emphasis on advanced computing and AI frameworks. The organization views these skills as progressively essential for the development of upcoming communication networks and smart data centers.

“India is an important innovation hub for Nokia, and LTTS is a critical partner that will bring engineering expertise and mechanisms that will help us expand our R&D footprint and accelerate innovation,” Vivek Jaiswal, senior vice-president of engineering at Nokia, says.
Alind Saxena, executive director and president of strategic initiatives and growth markets at LTTS, stated that the agreement demonstrated the trust that global technology firms had in the company's engineering capabilities.
Recently, LTTS launched an AI-Native Engineering Intelligence (EI) Lab for Digital Manufacturing in Bengaluru, utilizing NVIDIA-accelerated technologies for digital twins, industrial artificial intelligence (AI), and autonomous manufacturing systems. The lab offers a space for clients and collaborators to investigate how AI, digital engineering, and physical systems can integrate within manufacturing processes. It showcases uses that cover virtual validation, connected manufacturing, smart operations, and more autonomous systems.
