ONGC to Develop 172 Onshore Wells in Andhra

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) plans to allocate Rs 8,110 crore for the onshore extraction and production of oil and gas from 172 wells across eight PML (production mining license) blocks in Andhra Pradesh.

A panel within the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has advised Environmental Clearance for the project during a meeting conducted last month.

The projected cost of the project is Rs 8110 crore. The capital expense for the EMP (Environmental Management Plan) will be Rs. The EMP's recurring cost would amount to Rs. 172 crore. 91.16 Crores each year.

The industry suggests designating Rs. 11 crores for obligations stated in Public Hearing, the Expert Appraisal Committee noted in the meeting minutes.

In recommending the EC, the committee instructed the ONGC to adhere to all the environmental protection measures and safeguards outlined in the documents provided to the Ministry.

All suggestions provided in the EIA/EMP concerning environmental management and risk mitigation strategies related to the project will be executed.

It additionally stated that, as promised, no wells would be established within 10 km of the eco-sensitive zone of the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, according to the NOC issued in May of this year, and no pipelines or related components shall be installed in Forest land/Protected Areas without prior consent/approval from the appropriate Authority.
